CONGRATULATIONS ROBIN

Our SEE YOU IN SEPTEMBER prediction #1 comes true as the Republicans select Robin Yess as the first woman to chair a major political party in Ulster County. She is a welcomed replacement for "MEATBALL MARIO". The Republicans will be stronger under the Yess leadership once they put the election behind them and start fielding candidates with greater appeal (not like Paladino, Goodwin and Tantillo).

We kind of thought that it would be the more open minded, liberal thinking Dems that made this move. After all their leadership leaves much to be desired under the Julian reign.

  2. Robin Yess will alienate what is left of the Republican party. Her abrasive personality and hard right tea party beliefs will drive people away.

Ulster County is a moderate county and the Republicans need to wake up to that. This hard right turn is short sighted. It may seem like it makes sense with Paladino winning, but in the long term it is an error.

Mario benefited from very rare sets of circumstances that will not be repeated.

    1) Nina Postupack should have been challenged in her first run and wasn't. Last time she was running against a person who did not know how to campaign and was ill prepared. Nina is now in that job for life.

    2) Don Williams ran against a person who was an absolutely terrible choice by the Democrats. An extreme left leaning lesbian, who was also a prisoner advocate? Seriously what was wrong with them? She had no chance from day one. A different candidate may have yielded a different result.

    3) Holly Carnright ran against a split ticket and you can bet that will not happen again. Holly will lose the next election.

    4) The Legislature was a direct result of poor planning and the choice to not replace Phil Terpening's name on the ballot by the County Democratic leadership. There was some very negative response to local town candidates that hurt candidates in at least two districts. More than one of the incumbent candidates did not campaign at all.

Robin will not have those benefits. Catalano stepped in shit and it carried him for his entire tenure. He was a terrible leader and ran the treasury down to 10% of what it was when he got there. He left at the right time, he doesn't want to be around for what is assuredly going to be a Democratic sweep in Ulster County this November.
